I think we all needed a cigarette after that one

In the morning light my thoughts go from Trump and how he kept repeating lie after lie after lie and how that could be effective and leave these lies as truths in so many people’s minds to Biden and how he kept his (relative) cool and did something I think will be more effective in the end. He spoke directly to the American people. He took ownership of his son’s addiction issues and rather than blame drug companies, or society, or the pressures of political life, he praised his son for overcoming his demons and becoming a better self.

Most importantly, he took ownership of the Democratic Party, its platform, its direction. I think that as long as Biden keeps speaking directly to the American People, and he continues to reiterate that he is the Democratic Party, many of Trump’s lies, innuendos and truth twisting will be blunted, if not outright shutdown.

On that front, I know many people fear for their jobs and way of life under the Green New Deal, and I believe Biden needs to ensure the public that his Plan for tackling global warming is not the Green New Deal, even if when all is said and done, it is. Package it, present it in such a way as he did on the debate stage. Tackling global warming, cutting greenhouse gases, getting to Net Zero (and beyond) will create jobs, opportunities, prosperity for the average American worker, a better, cleaner, happier way of life. A New American Ideal, a new front to show off real American Leadership.

I wasn’t planning on watching the shitshow (er, debate), but in a way I’m glad I did. It didn’t change my mind (and, from what I’ve read of the polls I’m not alone), but I do think that if Biden can continue to keep his cool, be the Democratic Party in voters’ minds, and really articulate his vision for America’s future and how that will help lift the average American worker to a better place, he’ll win. And, boy, do we need Biden in the White House. Another term for Trump and I don’t believe there will be another Presidential Election.
